33 years of serving families, seniors, children, and homeless.

Restoration Ministries’ mission is based on Mathew 25:35-36. This familiar verse starts with “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat.” It was with this verse in mind that we started a Food Pantry in 1990. For the past 30 years, we have provided food to families, seniors, children, and homeless every week.

With the help of 30 or more volunteers, every Saturday we serve 300 to 350 families/households with compassion and dignity. We are a member agency of the Greater Chicago Food Depository, which provides 80% of the food we distribute. We also participate in GCFD’s Food Rescue program. With a new refrigerated Mercedes-Benz van donated to us by GCFD & Wal-Mart, we pick up food daily from various stores including Jewel, Meijer, Target, and Aldi, as well as McDonald’s and Starbucks.

Our Food Pantry is open on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and serves residents of Harvey and all of the south suburbs. Clients enter through our door on Willard Avenue and wait their turn to shop for their groceries in our gym, which is set up like a a grocery store. If you need food, please come to our pantry between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Saturdays and bring your identification.

Our volunteers are a blessing to the children, families and seniors who look to us for help.

We offer volunteer opportunities that fit your talents and schedule.
